At High Bar Colts we pride ourselves in building long lasting relationships with our clients by delivering willing horses that shine for who they are.

We specialize in starting and developing young horses with a solid foundation that allows them to go in any direction.

Offering services in colt starting, sales fitting and advanced training our bar is set high when it comes down to the care and purpose we put into the horses at our barn.

All our sale horses, that haven’t been made by us from the start, have been tried and polished extensively to meet our highest standards. Absolute transparency and true knowledge of the horses we offer allows us to stand behind each one of them.

Making great horses is our greatest pride, your satisfaction with them is our biggest joy.

Lorenzo Jones
  • Born and raised in Colombia, Lorenzo has always had an innate passion for horses that brought him to America pursuing his childhood dream.

After working for Kevin and Karen Stallings in Arizona he fell in love with cowhorses and the cowboy culture. Driven by the desire of learning more, traveled to Montana where he got to explore the Bitterroot Backcountry on the back of a horse and learn the art of packing.

Determined then to become a horse trainer he attended the Horse Training and Management program at Lamar Community College in Colorado. After graduating he interned for James Payne, cutting horse trainer in Oklahoma.

Lorenzo finds the starting process fascinating and fills him with joy to see young horses growing and changing during their training. A deep gratitude for being able to work with horses every day is his biggest motivation.

  • Kayla grew up in Colorado where she got to be around horses from a young age. Participating in 4H, Gymkhanas, taking lessons and just enjoying horses while growing up made these animals become a very important part of her life and passions.

Kayla attended Lamar Community College where she graduated with honors from both Horse training and Equine Business and Management programs.

Kayla interned at Outlaw Equine in Decatur, TX where she got to work closely with some of the top sports medicine vets in the industry as well as some of the top equine athletes. Kayla has always been passionate about optimal care for horses, as well as their anatomy and health. During her internship she developed a great eye for soundness and conformation as well as acquired the best practices for equine care.

Kayla is a well versed rider finding the advanced training of the horses to be her strong suit. She is also a naturally good teacher and has an excellent eye for observing and correcting rider mistakes.

Achieving correctness and enjoyment for it’s job in each horse is Kayla’s biggest pride. Currently she divides her time between being show help for Matt Koch and training at our barn.
